"Jenny makes time daily to talk one-on-one with students to ensure they feel well cared for and supported"

Jenny Wethington, Intervention Specialist, Madison-Plains Local Schools

The following testimonial was shared by Madison-Plains Local Schools in selecting Jenny Wethington as a 2015 Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator.

Jenny Wethington takes responsibility for the learning of all students in her classes. She makes time daily to talk one-on-one with students to ensure they feel well cared for and supported, regardless if she sees a student in class that day or not.

Jenny works with her co-teachers in the math department to collaboratively analyze student understanding and determine the next steps toward mastering educational goals. She has played an integral part in the shift focusing on positive behavior interventions and supports at Madison-Plains Junior High School and shares the challenges and successes with others. She goes beyond her content area of math intervention and provides additional support in both science and social studies for the students as well as the teachers.

Oftentimes, Jenny’s colleagues will reach out to her to learn more effective teaching strategies. She participated in the Ohio Instructional Leadership Academy as part of a leadership team throughout the 2013-2014 school year. During that time, she focused on short-term and long-term goals to develop as a professional. As a coach, Jenny has developed a connection with parents and students to provide a comfortable environment to reach out to her when needed.
