"It would be hard to find a teacher who is more deserving of the title Distinguished Educator"

Christy Woodside, 6th Grade Social Studies and ELA Teacher, West Muskingum Local Schools

The following testimonial was shared by West Muskingum Local Schools in selecting Christy Woodside as a 2015 Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator.

Christy Woodside has provided a classroom environment where her students have achieved significant growth. In order to accomplish this growth, she has engaged and motivated her students at very high levels. Christy is also an exceptional communicator, providing timely and specific feedback to her students and their parents.

Leadership is also an area where Christy excels. She is a dedicated member of the district leadership team, building leadership team, and is the leader of her own teacher-based team. Christy was new to our ELA department this year, and she took it upon herself to take the training in a brand new literacy framework. This was only the beginning of Christy's leadership, because she continued to collaborate with the rest of the ELA department to gain knowledge and improve her craft. She then took that newly collected knowledge and effectively incorporated it into her classroom. The ability to learn and incorporate new instructional methods coupled with her strong ability to collaborate has allowed Christy to also become a leader among the ELA department.
