The following testimonial was shared by Bloom-Vernon Local Schools in selecting Carla Lower as a 2016 Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator.
Carla Lower teaches 7th Grade Language Arts at South Webster Jr/Sr High School in South Webster, Ohio. Her passion for education and her students shines through on a daily basis. Carla has high expectations for herself and her students. Having high expectations is one thing, but living up to and meeting them is another. Carla consistently utilizes Formative Instructional Practices (FIP) in her classroom. She is constantly evaluating student work and providing useful feedback to all students. Carla’s students have achieved above average growth over the past seven years. Her students show both achievement and growth in her classroom.
Carla understands that making personal connections with her students is an essential part of her job and calling. Her ability to grow students academically and personally is exceptional. She is very humble, but her contributions to South Webster Jr/Sr High School can never be overlooked. Students throughout the years have benefitted from her knowledge and teaching. They carry on the lessons learned in her classroom for a lifetime. Carla is very deserving of the Distinguished Educator Award.
