Becky Heckman, IB Biology Teacher, Princeton City Schools
The following testimonial was shared by Princeton City Schools in selecting Becky Heckman as a 2016 Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator.
Becky Heckman is an International Baccalaureate biology teacher and instructional coach at Princeton High School. She has taught at the school for over 20 years. Becky is the Science Department Head, and is an active member of the Building Leadership Team. In addition to her instructional leadership, she also serves as the Culture Team Leader and the No-Nonsense Nurturer Coach to promote a positive school and classroom environment.
Becky has participated in multiple professional development opportunities in the district, which included an ASCD Conference on disrupting poverty in the state of Ohio, and worked to implement those research-based strategies into her classroom and throughout the building. She is a model of Viking excellence because of her commitment to the success of her students, staff, and the district. Her contributions to promote high-quality instruction in addition to helping her peers build relationships to connect with students continues to make a positive impact on Princeton City Schools.
